$

Bookmaker price on the offer.

Betfair price, same selection.

%
Lay stake
$49.21
Liability$78.74
Outcomes
Selection wins-$3.74
Selection loses, no payout-$3.74
Payout triggers, then it fails to win$121.26

The small loss is what you pay on most bets. The big number only lands when the payout triggers and the selection does not go on to win, which is not most of the time.

Worked example in A$

$50 on a soccer team at 2.50 with a 2 goals up early payout, laid on Betfair at 2.60 with 6% commission.

Lay stake on Betfair$49.21
Liability held by Betfair$78.74
Team wins-$3.74
Team draws or loses, never 2 up-$3.74
Team goes 2 up, then draws or loses$121.26

The last line is the one you are playing for. It does not happen on most bets.

The offer in 3 lines

  • The bookmaker pays your bet as a winner once a trigger hits, like 2 goals up.
  • You lay the same bet on Betfair, so a normal result costs a small qualifying loss.
  • If it triggers and the team then fails to win, the bookmaker and Betfair both pay.

How to use it

  1. Read the offer terms: the trigger, eligible markets, maximum stake.
  2. Pick a selection where the bookmaker and Betfair prices are close.
  3. Enter the stake, both odds and your commission.
  4. Place the back bet, then lay the exact lay stake on Betfair.
  5. If the payout triggers, the bookmaker settles your bet as a winner. Leave the lay running.

Frequently asked questions

What is an early payout offer?

The bookmaker pays your bet as a winner as soon as a trigger happens, such as your soccer team going 2 goals up or your AFL team leading by a set margin, even if they go on to lose.

How do you matched bet an early payout offer?

Back the selection with the bookmaker and lay it on Betfair as a normal qualifying bet. Most of the time you take a small loss. If the payout triggers and the team then fails to win, both bets pay.

What is a 2 up calculator?

The same thing for soccer 2 goals ahead offers. It gives the lay stake and shows the three outcomes: team wins, team loses with no trigger, and trigger then no win.

Is an early payout offer profitable every time?

No. Most bets end in the small qualifying loss. The value comes from the times the payout triggers and the selection does not win, so it only works over many bets. Matched betting lowers risk, it does not remove it.

Which Betfair commission should I use?

Most of these offers are on sport, which is 6% on Betfair Australia (10% on NRL). The calculator starts at 6%.
